Employer FAQs

UW Foster Virtual Career Fair is an event in which employers will be able set up virtual booths to interact with students and alumni in 1:1 conversations (chat or video) and group chats. Along with these virtual booths, companies can also present webinars during the event (limited spots available for webinars).
Once you register for the event, you’ll receive instructions via email on how to create a virtual booth. You’ll want to create the booth at least 1 week before Oct 28. Once your booth is created, attendees will reserve 1:1 chat slots up to a week before the event start date. You can approve or decline these reservations leading up to the day of the event.
The day will start off with company webinars on 12pm PST followed by booth sessions from 2pm-5:30pm PST:
12pm-12:45: First webinar
12:50-1:20pm: Second webinar
1:25-1:55pm: Third webinar
2pm-5:30pm: Virtual booths open plus 4 more webinars

If your company is interested in presenting a webinar presentation, please contact sbuysse@uw.edu to find out more about this limited option.
Two (or more) employer representatives are preferred to handle all chats with participants during your “live” sessions. We recommend recruiters and hiring managers who can speak broadly about your organization as well as specifics on job openings.
When our experienced MBA alumni and students register, they provide details on their career interests, expertise and contact information. You will have a range of highly robust filters within the platform to sort and review participant profiles that will expand your network and recruiting pool, as well as to review resumes and shortlist participants for further screening and potential hiring. (Participants may choose not to include their resume, due to privacy concerns. If you do not see a participant’s resume during chat sessions, we encourage you to ask for his or her resume, either through email or through a file upload during the chat.)

The event will remain open 24/7 for 30 days, and you will have 30‐day access to registered participants’ information including the ability to export electronic resumes.
When setting up your virtual booth, you will provide specific job URLs that link to your Jobs/Careers website.
  • Secure at least 2-3 recruiters and hiring managers to interact via chat room with participants, from 2pm-5:30pm PST / 5-8:30pm EST. Each will need to register for our event.
    • We recommend staffing the entire Virtual Career Fair to maximize the number of participants you will meet in your chat room. However, you can also specify a shorter timeframe to be “live” in your booth, if staffing availability is an issue.
  • Determine whether you’d like to conduct a 30-minute live webinar on Oct 28 and work with your Foster partner and vFairs for approval and set up. (We have a limited set of live webinar opportunities during the event. Please contact sbuysse@uw.edu to find out more about this option.)
  • Prepare your booth ‘staff’ to effectively tell your company’s story and educate participants on organizational culture, departmental strategies and individual functions and role expectations. We will share tips for making the most of the event before Oct 28.
You will have a “job applicants” tab that will show how many participants clicked on the post.
Yes! You can have several representatives from multiple departments and teams; simply make sure every representative clicks the “Register” button and fills the form. You can organize documents and videos by group within your online booth.
  • During the online (“live”) event, you can pull up a participant’s resume during chat sessions. You can also use a “resume search” feature to shortlist participants.
  • After the event, you will have 30-day access to all registered participants’ information including exporting electronic resumes. You will also receive an Excel file with participants’ information, including a link to individual resumes that you can access beyond 30 days.
Yes.At least a week before the event, we will open the online event and allow participants to reserve 1:1 chat slots, access videos and documents (related to your company, culture, and recruitment), but will restrict access to the rest of the event elements.
